HARUKI MATSUNO
 
TRUMPET & BAROQUE TRUMPET
 
Born in Yokkaichi-city, Mie-prefecture, Japan in 1965.
Matsuno began trumpet study at the age of 13.


Matsuno graduated from The Tokyo University of Arts in 1989. Since then, he has been active as a free-lance musician throughout Japan performing with various orchestras, not only as a soloist, but also as an ensemble player. He has an expansive repertoire including Baroque,Classic, and Contemporary music.


Especially,he has been valued on Baroque music, such as that by Bach, Handel, Telemann as a soloist and a extra solo part player. The Asahi Shimbun, one of the most leading newspapers in Japan, highly acclaimed his performance of Bach's Cantata BWV51 as “Matsuno's brilliant technique and rich musical sense
brought out charm the work has particularly.”


Also he plays Baroque trumpet so-called a period instrument. He studied trumpet with Genzo Kitamura and Akira Tanaka and Baroque music under Michio Kobayashi. And he also studied the baroque trumpet with Friedemann Immer.


In Europe, he performed Bach's Mass in B minor BWV232 in 2000 with a Japanese chorus group and Cantata BWV205 and Magnificat BWV243 in 2002 with the same group. And in 2004, he toured in Europe with Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra. He took part in the orchestra, Camerata Antiqua Seoul(Korea) as a baroque trumpet player in 2007, performed Handel's Rinaldo. In 2009, he performed Handel's "Messiah" in seoul. He has visited Germany every year since 2012. In 2014 he played the solo trumpet parts of Bach's works with BachChor Mainz and Göttinger Barock Orchestra.

BACH: Brandenburg Concert No.2, BWV51, 232(Mass in B miner), 243(Magnificat),
248(Weihnachts-Oratorio), 217(Easter Oratorio), 11, 21,46, 71, 74, 75, 77, 80, 110, 172, 191, 205, 207, 214, etc.
Especially, he has played BWV11, 232, and 243, over 20 times on each.

TELEMANN: Tafelmusik, solo-pieces
